School Times - Monday to Friday
- 8.30 a.m. - School opens
- 8.55 -10.55 - Morning period
- 10.55-11.15 - Recess
- 11.15-1.00 - Mid Morning period
- 1.00-1.55 - Lunch
- 1.55-2.55 - Afternoon period
Bus Passes
Applications for school bus passes can be obtained from the school office. All children enrolled in the Infants school are eligible for free travel by bus to and from school. Normally Public children must reside more than 1.6 km from the school to be eligible.
Early or Late Pass
If your child arrives at school after 9.00am, they must collect a Late Pass from the office. If you need to collect your child from school before 2.55pm, you must collect an Early Leave Pass from the office and give this to your child’s teacher.
Absence from School
If your child is absent from school it is necessary for a parental note giving a reason for the absence. This note is required for our files. If your child has a number of unexplained absences the Department of Education will send a Liaison Officer to the school, who will then make a visit to your home. Example:

Transfers From the School
Parents should notify the school, either personally or in writing, when a child is leaving so that a Transfer Certificate can be written for presentation at the new school. Please ensure all library books and home readers are returned prior to your departure.
Communicable Diseases
Children suffering from communicable diseases such as the ones set out below must be kept home until they are well. The minimum period of exclusion is as follows:
- Chicken Pox - 5 days from onset of spots or until fully recovered.
- German Measles - 6 days from appearance of rash
- Measles - 5 days from appearance of rash
- Mumps - 7 days from onset of swelling
- Whooping Cough - 3 weeks from onset of cough
- Infectious Hepatitis - Re-admitted on receipt of medical certificate
- Impetigo - Excluded if on exposed surfaces of skin eg. scalp, face, hands or legs. May attend if properly covered.
- Ringworm - Until all evidence of the disease has disappeared or a medical certificate is produced stating that the lesions are inactive.
- Conjunctivitis - Until discharge from eyes has ceased.
- Pediculosis - Exclude until hair is free from lice and eggs.
- Scabies - Exclude until medical certificate is produced.
Medication
If your child requires medication, you will need to sign an Indemnity Form at the School Administration Office. Please send a written note to the teacher and hand in the medication to the School Administration Office. This will ensure that other children do not gain access to it and that it will be administered at the correct time. Please do not allow your child to bring the medication to school to self administer.
Illness or Injury at School
If your child is ill before school it would be wise to keep him/her home for observation as the school has limited facilities to care for sick children. If a child becomes ill at school or has been involved in an accident, the school makes every endeavour to contact parents.
For this purpose you are asked to supply your current telephone numbers at home and work and those of other persons nominated by you for contact in case of emergency. If you cannot be contacted and your child is seriously ill/injured, an ambulance will be called to transport the child to the nearest hospital. Minor abrasions are treated by the Office Staff.
Banking
School banking is held each Thursday.
Newsletters
These are sent home each Thursday, and it gives you information about school activities.
Money
Any Money for excursions, etc should be placed in an envelope and marked with your child’s name and class. Notes and money are to be placed in a box in the office before school each day.
Library Bags
A library bag (available from the Uniform Shop) and a painting shirt are also needed.
Labelling
It is most important to label your child’s belongings with his/her name. All lost property and items not claimed are stored at the School Administration Ofiice.
Bicycles
In the interests of safety it is asked that no Kindergarten , Year 1 or Year 2 child ride bikes to or from school. Children in Year 3 – 6 may ride bikes if they have their parents permission to do so. Children who bring bikes to school must walk the bikes while in the school grounds, chain bikes to bike racks to prevent theft and obey all road safety rules when leaving the school grounds to go onto the road. All children who ride bicycles must have a safety helmet.
Scooters
Students are not permitted to ride scooters to school at any time.
Volunteers
Many parents help the school in a voluntary capacity as they see the benefits their children derive from seeing them help in the school. Parents help with the Kindergarten PLAY program, with group activities, reading and in the Library. If you would like to help please see your child’s teacher or the program co-ordinator.
Homework
Homework is educationally valid as it supports learning and encourages the partnership between home and school that is necessary for effective learning. Some parents request homework, others request that it not be given. Each class has a homework policy. The class teacher will inform you of their homework preferences.
