Captains / Prefects
Purpose
To provide a role model of attitudes and behaviour for all school students and to assist in the safe movement of students in and around school.
Guidelines
Year 5 students are eligible for self nomination Year 5 students vote in ten boys and ten girls out of the nominated students to be candidates for the positions of Captains and Prefects The twenty candidate names are placed on a ballot paper. Years 2 to 6 students vote for five boys and five girls First five boys and five girls become captains, vice captains and prefects Ten remaining students become S.T.R.I.D.E. members
Duties
- To organise and run weekly assemblies
- Assist in supervision of canteen lines
- Raise and lower flag
- Ensure there are adequate garbage bins placed strategically
- Supervise toilet / bubbler area – report blockages
- Welcome official guests
- Making speeches at official functions, eg. Year 6 Farewell, Leaders’ Investiture, ANZAC Day, Speech Day
- Represent the school at various community and Department of School Education functions
House and Vice Captains
Purpose
To lead and organise the students at school sporting activities and to organise, distribute and collect sporting equipment on a daily basis Guidelines
Year 6 students are elected by members of their Sporting House: Mitchell, Hume, Oxley & Sturt These children cannot hold captain, prefect or S.T.R.I.D.E. positions
